Quick Summary
Prison City Brewing’s Citra Oasis is a hazy double IPA brewed with one of my favorite hops: Citra. Going in, I had high expectations, as Citra-heavy beers are usually top-tier for me, with Other Half’s “All Citra Everything” sitting firmly at the top of my list. While Citra Oasis doesn’t quite reach those lofty heights, this award winning beer is still a smooth, flavorful, and highly enjoyable pour. Tasting Notes

Right away, the pour shows off a hazy, opaque golden-yellow body with minimal head; perfect for my tastes since I’m not a fan of overly foamy pours. On the nose, the aroma is fresh and inviting, full of citrus-forward notes with hints of pine and resin.
The first sip lands smooth and balanced. It’s definitely hoppy and bold, with a piney edge that comes through more than the citrus I was expecting. While the aroma promised bright Citra-forward flavors, the actual taste leans a little heavier on resin and bitterness, which lands well on my tongue. The finish is classic IPA with a strong, lingering, aftertaste; definitely built for fans of the style.
This is a sipper, not a gulper. At 8%, it’s meant to be enjoyed slowly, and with this 16-ounce can, I’m taking my time. While it doesn’t dethrone my favorite Citra beers, it’s still a solid entry into the hazy double IPA world.
Food Pairing Ideas
Citra Oasis would pair nicely with:
- Spicy buffalo wings
- Loaded nachos
- Grilled shrimp tacos
- Sharp cheddar or pepper jack cheese
Final Thoughts on this Citra Oasis DIPA Review
Citra Oasis is a well-crafted hazy double IPA that delivers on smoothness and bold hop character, even if it doesn’t quite hit the Citra-forward punch I was hoping for. If you’re an IPA drinker who loves hazy doubles, this one’s worth picking up. If you’re new to the style or shy about hops, you may want to ease in with something lighter first.
Overall: 3.9/5 — recommended for my hazy IPA fans out there 🍻
