Quick Summary

Today we’re cracking open Crab Dust, a double dry hopped IPA from the masters over at Other Half Brewing. Brewed with Citra Cryo, Citra, Strata, Mosaic Cryo, and Mosaic hops, this one caught my eye immediately. Other Half describes it as having notes of lychee, blueberry muffin, and dank strawberry gummies—and honestly, I’m still not entirely sure what that’s supposed to mean. But one thing I do know: Other Half plus Citra hops is usually a recipe for success, and this one had me excited from the start. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint.

Tasting Notes

I grabbed this one at Wegmans Pick-A-Pack, which has become my new go-to spot since my favorite local build-your-own-four-pack shop closed down. Whenever I see an Other Half Citra brew in the lineup, it’s an automatic yes for me, and Crab Dust had me hyped right away.

The appearance is gorgeous, with a pale yellow coloring that is perfectly hazy and completely opaque. You can’t see through it at all, and the small, soft head is exactly what I expect from a beer like this. It just looks refreshing, like summer in a glass.

The aroma is equally inviting. It’s light, citrusy, and fresh, with just enough brightness to make you want that first sip immediately. At 6.5% ABV, I wasn’t expecting an overly aggressive hit, and sure enough, the nose promised a smooth, easy-drinking beer.

Then came the first sip… and wow. This beer is fantastic. Everything I love about Other Half’s Citra brews is here: soft, juicy layers of citrus flavor with a touch of piney bitterness on the finish that keeps it balanced. It’s incredibly smooth and light while still packing in a ton of flavor.

One of the things I appreciate most about Crab Dust is its accessibility. Those hoppy notes don’t rush in upfront; they ease in at the end, making this something anyone can enjoy, even if you’re not a big IPA drinker. It’s refreshing, flavorful, and just plain fun to sip.

I’ve had some incredible Citra-heavy beers from Other Half—All Citra Everything and Blue Crab are both standouts—and while Crab Dust doesn’t quite top those, it holds its own as a seriously good brew.

Final Thoughts in this Crab Dust IPA Review

Crab Dust is everything I hoped it would be from an Other Half Citra-forward beer: hazy, refreshing, and bursting with flavor. While it doesn’t take the crown as my all-time favorite, it absolutely earns a spot near the top of my list with a solid 4.4/5.

This is a beer that works in just about any setting—backyard cookouts, watching the NFL kickoff (Go Bills!), or just relaxing after a long day. If you’re an IPA veteran, you’ll appreciate its balance and drinkability. If you’re new to the style, Crab Dust is a perfect entry point into the hazy IPA world. Other Half nailed it again. 🍻
